Information the service handles

When you use an account, StellarStep handles your account identifier, profile details, learning activity, practice results, saved resources, preferences, and AI tutor prompts and replies. Authentication is managed through Clerk.

Contact form submissions contain the name, email address, topic, and message you provide. The hosting and authentication services may also process technical information such as IP address, browser details, requests, and security events.

How information is used

StellarStep uses this information to provide accounts, save learning progress, personalize practice, operate the AI tutor, respond to support requests, prevent abuse, and diagnose service problems.

Tutor messages are saved to your account. Recent conversation context is sent to the configured AI service to produce a reply. Do not include passwords, identification numbers, private school records, health details, or other sensitive personal information in a conversation or contact message.

Service providers

StellarStep uses Clerk for authentication and Vercel for hosting. Account-linked learning information is stored in a PostgreSQL database. Configured AI features use OpenAI models through Vercel AI Gateway or a Replit AI integration; the active integration depends on the deployment.

When contact delivery is configured, submissions are forwarded to Formspree. These providers process information in accordance with their applicable service and privacy terms. Provider storage locations and retention can differ from StellarStep's application storage.

Cookies and device preferences

Authentication uses cookies or similar technologies to maintain a signed-in session. The interface also saves preferences such as appearance and language in your browser so they can be restored on a later visit.

You can change available preferences in the cockpit controls or clear browser storage through your browser settings. Clearing device storage does not delete learning progress or tutor messages saved to your account.

Student and educator use

StellarStep is designed for high school and college students. Educators and families should review the service before using it in a classroom and follow the school's rules for AI assistance and student information.

The platform is not designed for children under 13. If you believe a younger child has provided personal information, contact StellarStep so the situation can be reviewed.

Storage and your choices

Account-linked learning records and tutor conversations remain stored so the service can restore your learning experience. There is currently no published automatic deletion schedule. Hosting, authentication, AI, and contact providers may retain additional records under their own policies.

Use the Contact page to ask about your information or request correction or deletion. Such requests require review; changing a display preference or clearing browser storage is not an account-deletion request. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as StellarStep develops or its service providers change. The effective date will be revised when a material update is published.
